It’s probably just me, and I don’t intend to be rude; just blunt, but I was choking trying to swallow that last paragraph. I don’t see the emphasis on global history nor adaptations of … regardless of geography or national identity, etc, etc, etc.
I can appreciate the skill and creativity needed to tie the knots and incorporate them into a design but I have never appreciated macrame as an art or as home decor.

I took it to be the designs may signify different regions and aluminum wire gave it sculpture but it would be interesting to have more detail.

Thank goodness there is more to macrame than all of those plant hangers from the ’70s.
