Tip Toland is an American ceramic artist and teacher who was born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. She earned a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Colorado and an MFA in Ceramics from Montana State.

This is an impressive sculpture ~ just from the photo, it leaves my mind wondering. The description of her work on this piece rings very true, introspective and a feeling of seclusion.

Interesting nude. Because she’s bald, I instantly thought cancer survivor, happy to be home with her pigeons after a series of treatments. She may even be sending a message to her friends who share her pigeon hobby that she is in remission.

I admire the artist’s originality and skills but this does not do for me what I want from art , whatever that is. At first I thought it was because I found it grotesque, but the same is true for Hieronymus Bosch’s work and I enjoy his work so not sure why I am reacting negatively to this.
