Woman with Stroller
Bronze (1950)
Pablo Picasso
"After seeing his lover Françoise Gilot push their son, Claude, in a carriage, Picasso began to construct this sculpture. A master scavenger, he assembled it out of found materials before casting a bronze version. Cake molds, stove plates, a table mat, rolled metal sheets, and pieces of pottery come together in this monument to motherhood."
how cool – never saw this and also interesting how our strollers now “face out”

Good point, so many strollers do face out now. Thanks. 🙂

I really don’t understand the mother’s head, or hair, or hat, or whatever that tall plume is but I think this sculpture is a perfect example of creativity.

I’m probably the only one that thought her hair looked like Marge Simpson’s. 🙂

Oh yeah, that plume is rather phallic. Typical Picasso!

Well, you would know that because you’re knowledgeable about the arts. 🙂

I’m not THAT knowledgeable. But he did plaster his penis on Marie-Therese’s face in “The Dream”.

You’re right, it stood out on a lot of his works at the Picasso exhibit. 🙂
