When Great Trees Fall
Maya Angelou
And when great souls die,
after a period peace blooms,
slowly and always
irregularly. Spaces fill
with a kind of
soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
better. For they existed.”
Beautiful! Thank you, Maverick! xx Amy

Thank you Amy. Usually by the time I can check your posts all the right adjectives like ‘beautiful’ have already been used. Your Gazania photos were really gorgeous today!

*laughing* Thank you, Maverick. The detail that came through on these is I think because of the light that was coming through. They were on my window sill so this is really a different perspective then I normally take flowers. How important lighting is the lesson I learned through these flowers. Like wow. (((HUGS))) Amy

Thank you for liking “Odd Blooms.” Great post! I like the quiet yet powerful beauty of the photo and the poem. I am not that familiar with Maya Angelou’s work, but I am sad to hear that she passed away.

Maya was an extraordinary person. I had never seen a Bat flower before, thanks for posting that.

Even though she has passed away, I do not think her or her work will be forgotten.
In regard to your second point, you are welcome. The Bat flowers were new to me too until I came across them in Wikimedia Commons. I am glad that you enjoyed seeing them, and I hope to continue sharing beautiful and/or unusual photos with my readers. 🙂
