“Flower god, god of the spring, beautiful, bountiful,
Cold-dyed shield in the sky, lover of versicles,
Here I wander in April
Cold, grey-headed; and still to my
Heart, Spring comes with a bound, Spring the deliverer,
Spring, song-leader in woods, chorally resonant;
Spring, flower-planter in meadows,
Child-conductor in willowy
Fields deep dotted with bloom, daisies and crocuses:
Here that child from his heart drinks of eternity:
O child, happy are children!”

Did he really live in a place where the daisy and crocus bloom at the same time? What a beautiful garden that would be. Here the crocus comes in April, and the daisy in July. What a beautiful picture!! Love those tiny blue irises. What are they?

Robert may have taken some poetic license with his poem. I don’t know the flowering seasons in Scotland but they do have some lovely gardens. These are a dwarf Iris which I believe to be Katharine Hodgkin. http://www.rhs.org.uk/Gardens/Wisley/About-Wisley/Plant-of-the-month/February/Iris–Katharine-Hodgkin-

Well, it was a beautiful poem, even if poetic license was taken. 🙂 And thanks for the information on the iris.
