so completely that there simply wasn’t room for any other thought.” – Sophie Scholl

Out to Lunch

“Great photography is about depth of feeling, not depth of field.” – Peter Adams
Next month’s theme will be “fences” on May 5th. There are two galleries during theme week, one for the theme and one like there normally is for those that may choose not to do a theme.
The current Leanne Cole and Laura Macky’s weekly Monochrome Madness will be posted later today for your viewing pleasure on Leanne’s blog. If you would like to participate and submit a photo in the coming weeks, please email your monochrome image to leanne@leannecole.com.au and include a link to your blog or website if you have one. It doesn’t have to be WordPress blogger, it can be a Facebook page, a Flickr page, etc. Include your name or your blog name. The image size should be low resolution, so the largest size should be 1000 pixels or less. The deadline for submission is before 6 p.m. on or before Tuesday, Melbourne Australia time. The earlier the better for Leanne. If you should miss the deadline your photograph will be posted the following week. The complete instructions are posted on Leanne’s blog should you have any questions or need help.

Dreams Lost In Water
by Naseer Ahmed Nasir
(excerpts)
No distance ever separates
Dreams and desires
No mirror ever dissolves
Reflection and water
In one’s eye
~ ☢ ☢ ☢ ☢ ~
Who will look for
Flowers
In spring-fresh hands
Of tiny tots?
Who will see
Dreams
In eyes-yours and mine
In centuries to be?
No one is sure
Of things lost in water!

“It is the hour to rend thy chains,
The blossom time of souls.”
Katherine Lee Bates

“Most days it feels as if the world is whirling around me and I am standing still. In slow motion,
I watch the colors blur; people and faces all become a massive wash.” — Sarah Kay

“In a world addicted to speed, I blur the moments into one unholy smear.” ― Ann Voskamp

Of all that is good, sublimity is supreme. Succeeding is the coming together of all that is beautiful.
Furtherance is the agreement of all that is just. Perseverance is the foundation of all actions.
— Lao Tzu

“For him it was a dark passage which led to nowhere, then to nowhere, then again to nowhere, once again to nowhere, always and forever to nowhere, heavy on the elbows in the earth to nowhere, dark, never any end to nowhere, hung on all time always to unknowing nowhere, this time and again for always to nowhere, now not to be borne once again always and to nowhere, now beyond all bearing up, up, up and into nowhere, suddenly, scaldingly, holdingly all nowhere gone and time absolutely still and they were both there, time having stopped and he felt the earth move out and away from under them.” ― Ernest Hemingway, For Whom the Bell Tolls

“One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. “Oh, no,” I said. “Disneyland burned down.” He cried and cried, but I think that deep down, he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.” — Jack Handey

“Our job is to record, each in his own way, this world of light and shadow
and time that will never come again exactly as it is today.” – Edward Abbey
MM marks the first theme week for Monochrome Madness. The next one will be on Cinco de Mayo and so we’ll wait and see what Leanne comes up with for that. There are two galleries during theme week, one for the theme and one like there normally is for those that may not do a theme.
