There is a difference between our wisdom and nature's simplicity. That reflects the burden of a complex intelligence. A complex intelligence like ours is impotent compared to the intelligence of a monarch butterfly migrating from Canada to Mexico, or the intelligence of hummingbirds that have co-evolved with the flowers all along their migration route. That seems so simple; it just happens, it just unfolds. — Alison Hawthorne Deming

I love the poetic statement by Alison Hawthorne. ” . A complex intelligence like ours is impotent compared to the intelligence of a monarch “. How true, our intelligence can often be in the way of intuitive intelligence.
Your photos are a delight !

Another fascinating this about Monarchs is that it takes several generations of them to make from Mexico to Canada in the Spring so the ones are born there have never been to the place from where their predecessors came. So how do they know where to go and how to get there? The other fascinating thing is that the last ones born before it’s time to return to a place they’ve never been are called the Methusula generation because they can make the entire journey on ther own. 🙂 ❤
