Nice captures. One of my favorite spring flowers because they have, depending in the type, such a saturated color that pops in the plainness of yards and gardens this time of year; like yours in the brown leaves.

I only recently learned that’s the flower where they get saffron from.

I didn’t know that. I always assumed it came from some exotic flower in the East like cinnamon and cloves.

Beautiful… I love these flowers … have always loved them, but liked them even more after I read a greek myth which included them… The myth tells us that Crocus who was a friend of Hermes, the messenger of the Gods was accidentally killed by his friend one day while they were throwing the disc to each other… As Crocus fell and was dying, three drops from his blood fell on the centre of a flower thus becoming the three stigmata of the flower named after him.
