Find out what somethings our gracious hosts Leanne Cole and Laura Macky have for us to look at this week… later on today. Thanks goes to L & L and to all of the talented contributors for another week of Madness.

I am having SO much fun doing this. I have another set of waterfalls, no, actually two, that I have yet to post. They are incredible! The difference shutter speeds make is from night to day! And you don’t need any filters either. I’m not using one. I’ve been hiking in the local creeks here, getting bit by squeeters, but it is so worth it. Go and have some fun, Maverick! Hint: Twilight is THE only time you can work with slow shutter speeds and of course you need a tripod. Or, if you see a real heavily shady area, then go for it no matter the time of day. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you can do!!! (smiling!) (((HUGS))) Amy

I know a small shady creek I can practice on. So I may have tiny mini waterfalls but I’ll definately have fun trying and seeing what kind of different results I can get. Thanks for the advice Lady P. 🙂

If you have a long range zoom lens (70-300mm for example) you can zoom in and make a TINY waterfalls look HUGE. That is what I did on the post I did today. LOL I’m serious. It was a little creek, with a little waterfall. The other waterfalls I have are bigger but still little as far as size goes. Have fun. There is always the option of cropping too, if you don’t have a real long range zoom lens. Just shoot large JPEG option or in RAW so you can crop. Lots of things you can do to make an “illusion”. I’m getting excited for you. I really will look forward to seeing your waterfalls. Think of me while you are shooting regarding how I braved the sqeeters. LOL xx

Okay, on the weekends I’ll try to create Niagara Falls. Hopefully you’ve fed the sqeeters enough so they’re no longer hungry. Or I’ll think of you when I itch, lol. Thx.

And oh, you are welcome by the way. Anytime, really. I am self-taught, so if I can help someone, sharing with them what I have learned, it really makes my day. I learn by reading books and also by just experimenting, hands on. You take care, and boy I really am looking forward to what you can do. I think you would laugh if you saw me sometimes, huddled over my tripod, mumbling outloud to myself, “Well, let me see. If I do this that or the other, and put the light over there in my photo, I wonder what affect I would get? I’m gonna see what I can do!” Hehehehehehe And so I make magic, just by experimenting. I know what I can improve in on the post I did today, and that is what I will do next time. Don’t forget about ISO and F/stops either. They all 3 work together. Slow shutter use 100 ISO always. OK. Can you tell I am really excited for you? GO FOR IT!!!! xx Amy

Thank you for liking “Midsummer.” Beautiful photo! 🙂 I like the contrast between the white unfolding magnolia blossom and the dark background. I am glad that you have branched out into black-and-white photography. 🙂

I am glad that you enjoyed “Midsummer.” I did not realize how important summer is to the Scandinavians and the Baltic people until I did research for this post. They really know how to celebrate summer! 🙂
I like to learn about different cultures and customs, and I am glad to know that there are still some people out there who are interested in them too. 🙂
